Main tasks and Responsibilities of the Position:
Under the supervision of
the UNAIDS Country Coordinator, in consultation with UNAIDS HQ Rights, Gender
and Community Mobilization colleagues and RST Senior Human Rights and Gender
Advisor(s) and in close cooperation UNAIDS co-sponsors, the incumbent will
coordinate UNAIDS efforts at country level to galvanize and monitor HIV-related
human rights, gender equality and law and support countries in the
operationalization of human rights and gender equality related commitments in
the Political Declaration on HIV/AIDS (2011), the UNAIDS Strategy 2011-2015
Getting to Zero and the UNAIDS Agenda for Women and Girls. The focus will go
beyond the human rights and gender equality agendas and embrace broader
movements for social change and justice, rule of law, redistribution of
opportunities, and new social impact investments.
The incumbent will be
assigned all or part of the following responsibilities:
LEADERSHIP FOR HUMAN RIGHTS AND GENDER EQUALITY:
Proactively lead efforts
and support UNAIDS to exert strategic leadership on human rights and gender
equality at country level by providing strategic policy/programmatic guidance
to UCO colleagues, cosponsors and, as necessary, to national partners on
national human rights based and gender-transformative HIV responses, including
human rights, law, gender equality and transformation, gender based violence,
sexual and reproductive health and rights, ethical issues and rights-based
programming and by establishing and strengthening alliances with civil society
and movements for social justice in line with the local epidemic(s) and context
and, working closely, as appropriate, with the Community Mobilisation and
Networking Advisor.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Advanced university degree in law, social science development,
human rights, public health, women's studies, international relations and/or
public administration, complemented by specialization in gender, law and/or
human rights.

Experience:
Essential:
A minimum of 7 to 10 years experience in human rights, law, and/or
gender equality as related to the HIV epidemic, country-level programming
and/or human rights/gender equality advocacy and planning processes.
Desirable:
Experience at country level or with UN System, UNAIDS, national or
international institutions, with a sound understanding of their missions,
mandates and operations.
Languages:
Essential:
- Advanced knowledge of English.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of another UN official language.
Additional Information:
Positions at the
international professional category within UNAIDS will be subject to the
Organization's Mobility Policy and the standard duration of assignment is
linked to the ICSC hardship classification of the duty station.
Annual salary: (Net of tax)
USD 67,483 at single rate
USD 72,467 with primary
dependants
Post Adjustment: 72.9 % of the
figure(s) on the left side. This percentage is to be considered as indicative
since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to
currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
